WASHINGTON (CNN) --A pharmaceutical company that sells erectile dysfunction treatment Viagra has agreed to pay a $250,000 criminal fine for selling unlicensed medicines online.
A $250,000 fine was reached by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania after the company allegedly tried to sell Viagra with prescription-only drug Viagra. The government charged Pfizer with the charges, which are punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Pfizer pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute and sell unlicensed prescription medicines in the United States. The company sold and distributed unlicensed Viagra and its generic equivalents, and other generic medications through its website,.
